Tampa Bay Rays

Pitch Repertoire At-A-Glance

Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Troy Percival threw 1,397 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2007 and 2009, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season and Spring Training. In 2009, they relied primarily on their Fourseam Fastball (92mph), also mixing in a Change (84mph), Curve (77mph) and Slider (85mph).

In 2009, compared to other RHP:
Their fourseam fastball has essentially average velo and results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' fourseamers. Their change results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' changeups and has slight cut action. Their curve has an exceptional bite, is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' curves and results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' curves. Their slider (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 17 of them in 2009) is an extreme flyball pitch compared to other pitchers' sliders, has less than expected depth and has primarily 12-6 movement.
