Baltimore Orioles

Pitch Repertoire At-A-Glance

Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Tomo Ohka threw 1,502 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2007 and 2009, all of them occuring in the MLB Regular Season. In 2009, they relied primarily on their Fourseam Fastball (88mph), Slider (83mph) and Sinker (87mph), also mixing in a Splitter (80mph). He also rarely threw a Curve (73mph).

In 2009, compared to other RHP:
Their fourseam fastball comes in below hitting speed, is straight as an arrow and has some natural sinking action. Their slider is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' sliders and has less than expected depth. Their sinker is so slow that it is substantially gravitational, has surprisingly little armside run, generates more whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' sinkers and results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' sinkers. Their splitter comes in below hitting speed and is an extreme flyball pitch compared to other pitchers' splitters. Their curve comes in below hitting speed and is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' curves.
