Pitch Repertoire At-A-Glance

Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Mitch Talbot threw 4,049 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2008 and 2011, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season and Spring Training. In 2011, they relied primarily on their Sinker (90mph) and Cutter (90mph), also mixing in a Change (80mph) and Curve using a Knuckle Curve grip (84mph).

In 2011, compared to other RHP:
Their sinker results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' sinkers and has slightly below average velo. Their cutter is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' cutters, has surprisingly little cutting action, results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' cutters, has slightly above average velo and has some natural sink. Their change dives down out of the zone, has below average velo and results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' changeups. Their curve using a knuckle curve grip is thrown extremely hard, is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' curves, results in many more groundballs compared to other pitchers' curves and has slight glove-side movement.
