André Rienzo

Non-MLB

Pitch Repertoire At-A-Glance

Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, André Rienzo threw 2,588 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2013 and 2015, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season and Spring Training. In 2015, they relied primarily on their Slider (88mph) and Sinker using a Two-seam Fastball grip (91mph), also mixing in a Curve (78mph) and Fourseam Fastball (91mph). He also rarely threw a Change (84mph).

In 2015, compared to other RHP:
Their slider is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' sliders, results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' sliders, is much harder than usual and has less than expected depth. Their sinker using a two-seam fastball grip has less armside run than typical and results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' sinkers. Their curve results in many more groundballs compared to other pitchers' curves and has a sharp downward bite. Their fourseam fastball is a real worm killer that generates an extreme number of groundballs compared to other pitchers' fourseamers, has some natural sinking action and has slightly below average velo. Their change (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 8 of them in 2015) generates an extremely high number of swings & misses compared to other pitchers' changeups and results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' changeups.
