Ryne Harper has thrown 706 pitches that have been tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2014 and 2019, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season, Spring Training and Fall/Winter Ball. In 2019, he has relied primarily on his Slider (76mph) and Fourseam Fastball (90mph), also mixing in a Curve (70mph). He also rarely throws a Change (76mph).
Basic description of 2019 pitches compared to other RHP:
His slider comes in below hitting speed, sweeps across the zone, has exceptional depth and is an extreme flyball pitch compared to other pitchers' sliders. His fourseam fastball has heavy sinking action, is straight as an arrow, has below average velo and results in many more groundballs compared to other pitchers' fourseamers. His curve comes in below hitting speed, generates more whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' curves, has a sharp downward bite, results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' curves and has slight glove-side movement. His change (take this with a grain of salt because he's only thrown 5 of them in 2019) comes in below hitting speed, is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' changeups, has surprising cut action, dives down out of the zone and results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' changeups.
