Minnesota Twins
Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2026, Mike Maroth threw 618 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system in 2007, all of them occuring in the MLB Regular Season. In 2007, they relied primarily on their Sinker (83mph) and Fourseam Fastball (85mph), also mixing in a Change (75mph) and Slider (80mph). He also rarely threw a Curve (73mph), Cutter (81mph), Splitter (73mph) and Knuckleball (86mph).
In 2007, compared to other LHP:
Their sinker is so slow that it is substantially gravitational, has less armside run than typical and has some natural sinking action. Their fourseam fastball comes in below hitting speed, has heavy sinking action, is a real worm killer that generates an extreme number of groundballs compared to other pitchers' fourseamers and has less armside movement than typical. Their change comes in below hitting speed, has surprising cut action, dives down out of the zone and generates more whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' changeups. Their slider generates fewer whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' sliders and has less than expected depth. Their curve is an extreme flyball pitch compared to other pitchers' curves, has below average velo and has little depth. Their cutter (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 6 of them in 2007) comes in below hitting speed, is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' cutters, is an extreme flyball pitch compared to other pitchers' cutters, has little cutting action and has some natural sink. Their splitter (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 1 of them in 2007) comes in below hitting speed, has dives down out of the zone, is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' splitters, has surprising cut action and is an extreme flyball pitch compared to other pitchers' splitters. Their knuckleball (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 1 of them in 2007) flutters and floats unpredictably toward the plate.
