Non-MLB
Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Matt Dermody threw 1,476 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2016 and 2023, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season and Fall/Winter Ball. In 2023, they relied primarily on their Fourseam Fastball (92mph) and Change (83mph), also mixing in a Sinker (92mph), Slider (81mph), Curve (75mph) and Cutter (87mph).
In 2023, compared to other LHP:
Their fourseam fastball generates more whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' fourseamers, has some natural sinking action, has essentially average velo, results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' fourseamers and has slightly less natural movement than typical. Their change is a prototypical pitch with few remarkable qualities. Their sinker has less armside run than typical and has slightly above average velo. Their slider has short glove-side cut and has some two-plane movement. Their curve results in many more groundballs compared to other pitchers' curves, has a sharp downward bite, has slight glove-side movement and has slightly below average velo. Their cutter has extreme cut action, results in many more groundballs compared to other pitchers' cutters, has slightly above average velo and has some natural sink.
