Texas Rangers

Pitch Repertoire At-A-Glance

Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Garrett Richards threw 16,423 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2010 and 2022, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season and Spring Training. In 2022, they relied primarily on their Slider (89mph), Change (90mph) and Fourseam Fastball (94mph). He also rarely threw a Curve (77mph) and Sinker (96mph).

In 2022, compared to other RHP:
Their slider is thrown extremely hard, has primarily 12-6 movement and has some two-plane movement. Their change is thrown extremely hard, results in somewhat more groundballs compared to other pitchers' changeups, has slight armside fade and has some natural sink to it. Their fourseam fastball has heavy sinking action, is straight as an arrow and has slightly above average velo. Their curve has an exceptional bite, generates more whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' curves and results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' curves. Their sinker (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 3 of them in 2022) is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' sinkers, is an extreme flyball pitch compared to other pitchers' sinkers, is blazing fast and has surprisingly little armside run.
