Ralph Garza Jr.

Non-MLB

Pitch Repertoire At-A-Glance

Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Ralph Garza Jr. threw 1,064 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2020 and 2022, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season and Spring Training. In 2022, they relied primarily on their Sinker (88mph) and Slider (78mph), also mixing in a Change (83mph), Fourseam Fastball (91mph) and Cutter (90mph). He also rarely threw a Curve (80mph).

In 2022, compared to other RHP:
Their sinker is so slow that it is substantially gravitational, has heavy sinking action, generates fewer whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' sinkers, results in somewhat more groundballs compared to other pitchers' sinkers and has slight armside run. Their slider comes in below hitting speed, sweeps across the zone and has less than expected depth. Their change is a real worm killer that generates an extreme number of groundballs compared to other pitchers' changeups, has slight armside fade and has some natural sink to it. Their fourseam fastball generates fewer whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' fourseamers and has slightly below average velo. Their cutter is an extreme flyball pitch compared to other pitchers' cutters, has good "rise", has little cutting action and has slightly above average velo. Their curve (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 14 of them in 2022) is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' curves, results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' curves, is slightly harder than usual and has primarily 12-6 movement.
