Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2023, Dane Dunning threw 5,138 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2020 and 2022, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season and Spring Training. In 2022, they relied primarily on their Sinker (90mph), Slider (79mph) and Change (84mph), also mixing in a Cutter (87mph). He also rarely threw a Fourseam Fastball (89mph).
In 2022, compared to other RHP:
Their sinker has slight armside run, has slightly below average velo and has some natural sinking action. Their slider comes in below hitting speed, has exceptional depth, has short glove-side cut and results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' sliders. Their change has an obvious armside fade and has some natural sink to it. Their cutter results in many more groundballs compared to other pitchers' cutters. Their fourseam fastball (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 1 of them in 2022) comes in below hitting speed, is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' fourseamers, is an extreme flyball pitch compared to other pitchers' fourseamers and has slight armside run.
