Pitch Repertoire At-A-Glance

Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Ronald Bolaños threw 2,184 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2019 and 2023, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season, The World Baseball Classic and Spring Training. In 2023, they relied primarily on their Fourseam Fastball (93mph), Sinker (93mph) and Slider (85mph), also mixing in a Curve (77mph) and Change (88mph). He also rarely threw a Slow Curve (69mph).

In 2023, compared to other RHP:
Their fourseam fastball generates fewer whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' fourseamers, has less armside movement than typical, has some natural sinking action, has essentially average velo and results in somewhat more groundballs compared to other pitchers' fourseamers. Their sinker generates a high number of swings & misses compared to other pitchers' sinkers and has surprisingly little armside run. Their slider results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' sliders and has some two-plane movement. Their curve has little depth, results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' curves and has slight glove-side movement. Their change is much firmer than usual, results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' changeups and has slight cut action. Their slow curve (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 1 of them in 2023) is a real yakker that's separated from their other curveball due to its big drop and slow speed.
