Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Richard Bleier threw 4,995 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2016 and 2023, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season, The World Baseball Classic and Spring Training. In 2023, they relied primarily on their Sinker (88mph) and Cutter (86mph), also mixing in a Slider (77mph) and Splitter (79mph). He also rarely threw a Fourseam Fastball (89mph).
In 2023, compared to other LHP:
Their sinker has heavy sinking action, results in many more groundballs compared to other pitchers' sinkers, has less armside run than typical and has slightly below average velo. Their cutter has heavy sink and has strong cutting action. Their slider comes in below hitting speed, sweeps across the zone, results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' sliders and has some two-plane movement. Their splitter comes in below hitting speed, has dives down out of the zone, is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' splitters and has surprising cut action. Their fourseam fastball (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 19 of them in 2023) generates an extremely high number of swings & misses compared to other pitchers' fourseamers, has heavy sinking action, results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' fourseamers, has slightly below average velo and has slightly less natural movement than typical.
